During my osteopathic treatments I use various techniques including:

- Soft tissue massage/ stretching techniques
- Western medical acupuncture (dry needling)
- Kinesiology taping
- Sports taping
- Exercise advice
Osteopathy
Osteopathy is a professional designation granted by Valvira (the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health), and its focus is on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders and pain. Osteopathic treatment is based on a holistic understanding of the body, emphasizing that the balance between structure and function directly impacts overall well-being.
What happens during osteopathic treatment?
The first visit always begins with a thorough interview, where the patient’s symptoms, health condition, and any previous issues are discussed. This helps understand the background of the problem and its possible causes.
After the interview, the osteopath conducts a comprehensive functional examination of the body.
This may include:
- Assessing the body’s mobility and balance
- Palpating muscles and joints to assess tension and movement
- Performing orthopedic or neurological tests for more precise symptom identification
Based on the examination, a personalized treatment plan is created, which may include osteopathic manual therapy, rehabilitation, and home exercises. Exercises can include physical movements, stress management techniques, or visualization practices aimed at promoting recovery and preventing recurrence.
What can osteopathy help with?
Osteopathy can be beneficial for various pain conditions and functional disorders in the body, such as:
- Sports and overuse injuries and their rehabilitation
- Headaches and migraines
- Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction
- Muscle injuries (cramps, strains, and tension)
- Joint disorders (e.g., osteoarthritis)
- Nerve-related issues (e.g., sciatica, pinched nerves, thoracic outlet syndrome)
- Back pain and stiffness (acute and chronic)
- Hip, knee, and foot pain
- Shoulder and neck pain (acute and chronic)
- Disc issues
- Stress-related symptoms
- Work-related pain
- Pregnancy and postpartum musculoskeletal issues
I take a modern and evidence-based approach to osteopathy. Treatment is always tailored to the individual’s needs to achieve the best possible outcome, whether it’s for acute pain, a long-standing issue, or preventative care.
Pregnancy and Childbirth – Supporting the Body with Osteopathy
Pregnancy and childbirth are significant changes for the body, and osteopathic treatment can support these stages by alleviating pain, improving mobility, and promoting balance.
Pregnancy osteopathy focuses on the well-being of the body throughout pregnancy and after childbirth, whether the delivery was vaginal or via cesarean section. The treatment helps the body adapt to the changes caused by pregnancy and supports postpartum recovery, reducing discomfort. Osteopathy can also relieve existing musculoskeletal problems that may be exacerbated during pregnancy.
Osteopathic Treatment During and After Pregnancy
Osteopathic care is completely safe for both the expectant mother and the baby. Treatment is always tailored to the individual and adjusted for the different stages of pregnancy. During treatment, the body’s position and the techniques used can be modified to ensure the patient feels as comfortable as possible.
What can osteopathy help with?
- Preparing for childbirth – optimizing mobility, supporting pelvic and back balance
- Pregnancy symptoms – such as back and pelvic pain, symphysis pubis dysfunction, shortness of breath, and nerve impingement
- Managing pre-existing conditions – such as back pain, headaches, neck and shoulder tension, and stress-related symptoms
- Postpartum recovery – restoring pelvic and abdominal areas, adapting the nervous system, relieving pain, managing urinary incontinence, and rehabilitating abdominal muscle separation
- Returning to exercise after childbirth
- Exercise advice during pregnancy
Jaw & face massage
Jaw Muscle Massage is a specialized form of massage that targets the jaw joint, chewing muscles, and the neck area to relieve muscle tension. This treatment relaxes the muscles, alleviates pain, and improves jaw mobility.
Who is Jaw Muscle Massage suitable for?
Tension in the chewing muscles can cause various symptoms, such as:
- Jaw pain or fatigue
- Headaches or migraine attacks
- Pain in the face, temples, or ears
- Teeth grinding or clenching (bruxism)
- Clicking or locking of the jaw joint
- Tension in the neck and shoulders
What causes tension in the chewing muscles?
Several factors can contribute to the tightness of the chewing muscles, including:
- Stress and tension, which cause the jaw muscles to tighten
- Teeth grinding or excessive clenching
- Long-term poor posture and neck strain
- Bite issues or jaw joint dysfunctions
- Aftereffects of dental treatments or surgeries
What happens during Jaw Muscle Massage?
During the treatment, the chewing muscles are addressed both externally on the cheeks, jaw, and neck area, as well as internally inside the mouth. The goal of the massage is to release muscle tension, improve blood circulation, and increase joint mobility. The treatment may also include relaxing work on the neck and shoulders to reduce the overall load on the chewing muscles.
Jaw muscle massage is an effective and relaxing treatment that provides relief even after the first session. For the best results, a few sessions and following at-home care instructions are often recommended.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy Massage brings many changes to the body, which can cause muscle tightness, swelling, and pain in the back and pelvic areas. Pregnancy massage is a safe and relaxing treatment that helps relieve body tension and supports overall well-being during pregnancy.

- The need for relaxation and recovery
Massage is suitable for most expectant mothers throughout pregnancy, with the therapist ensuring that the different stages of pregnancy are considered, making the treatment safe.
What causes pregnancy-related muscle pain and tension?
During pregnancy, the body prepares for childbirth, causing various changes in the musculoskeletal system. Muscle tightness and pain can be caused by:
- Hormonal changes that affect ligaments and muscle elasticity
- Shifting body weight and changes in posture
- Increased strain on the growing belly and pelvic area
- Fluid retention and changes in circulation
What happens during Pregnancy Massage?
Pregnancy massage is performed in a comfortable and safe position, often on the side, taking the body’s needs into account. Gentle and relaxing techniques are used to relieve tension and promote well-being. The treatment can be targeted to the areas that need the most attention.
Effects of the Massage:
- Relieves muscle pain and tension
- Reduces swelling and promotes fluid circulation
- Improves sleep quality and helps with relaxation
- Supports overall body well-being and prepares for childbirth
Pregnancy massage is a safe way to care for both the body and mind during pregnancy. It offers a moment of relief and helps improve endurance through the different stages of pregnancy.
